In April 1968 — just two days after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. — Lil’ Bobby Hutton, the very first recruit and treasurer of the Black Panther Party, was gunned down by Oakland police while surrendering with his hands raised.
According to multiple witnesses, including Eldridge Cleaver, Bobby stripped down to his underwear to prove he was unarmed... yet police still shot him more than 12 times.
